Job summary

The City of Pasadena is seeking a Public Works Superintendent for Fleet Maintenance to lead a team of fleet supervisors, mechanics and parts technicians. You will direct day-to-day operations, prepare fiscal and operational reports, and develop plans to meet future service needs.

Ideal candidates will have strong leadership, strategic planning, and cost control skills, with experience managing large fleet systems and ensuring safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Five years of increasingly responsible journey level field or administrative experience in maintenance operation.
• Two years in a supervisory and/or managerial capacity.
• College level coursework in a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Organizes, assigns and reviews work in the repair, alteration and maintenance of public vehicles.
• Oversees the ordering of parts, materials and equipment for fleet maintenance.
• Supervises and assigns work projects to subordinates, checks progress for quality and budget adherence.
• Develops and prepares bid specifications for contract services.
• Prepares section budget and controls expenditures of allocated funds.
• Coordinates training and evaluates employees.
• May act on behalf of the division head.
