The City of Pasadena is seeking an Equipment Mechanic III to maintain and repair a large fleet of fuel-powered equipment within the Building Systems & Fleet Management Division of the Public Works Department. Qualifications

• Four years of journey-level experience repairing heavy gasoline and diesel vehicles or construction equipment.
• Completion of a state-approved 4-year apprentice mechanic program with two years journey-level experience.

Responsibilities

• Inspects and diagnoses problems in heavy-duty gasoline, CNG and diesel vehicles and equipment.
• Performs preventive maintenance and determines needed repairs.
• Overhauls and repairs brakes, differentials, motors, ignition, fuel, electrical or hydraulic systems.
• Interprets electrical circuits and machine drawings; disassembles and repairs components.
• Installs/updates parts and performs testing with power tools and equipment.
• May perform welding and supervise apprentices; maintains work records.
