Job summary
Coastal Waste & Recycling is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Manager in Florida to lead a diesel maintenance team responsible for the readiness, preventive maintenance, and repair Quality of a fleet of waste & recycling collection vehicles. You will manage shop staffing, technician development, safety, and maintenance costs while partnering with Operations to meet daily equipment needs.
The ideal candidate has 5+ years in diesel fleet maintenance and 2+ years in leadership, with strong knowledge of
Qualifications
- Five (5) or more years of progressive experience in diesel fleet maintenance or heavy-duty vehicle maintenance.
- Two (2) or more years of maintenance leadership or supervisory experience.
- Experience leading, coaching, and developing diesel technicians.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, brakes, drivetrains, and preventive maintenance.
- Experience managing fleet maintenance programs, repair priorities, parts inventory, vendors, and maintenance costs.
- Strong safety mindset and understanding of maintenance and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop diesel technicians for a high-performing maintenance team.
- Own safety, reliability, and readiness of your assigned fleet.
- Recruit, onboard, develop, and retain skilled technicians in partnership with Career Path.
- Plan preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, and out-of-service equipment for maximum fleet availability.
- Monitor downtime, road calls, repeat repairs, and maintenance trends to improve reliability.
- Collaborate with Operations to understand daily equipment needs and minimize disruptions.
- Ensure work orders, labor hours, parts usage, inspections, and maintenance records are complete.
