Job summary

Coastal Waste & Recycling, Inc is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Manager to lead a diesel fleet maintenance operation, delivering safe, reliable equipment and strong technician development. You will own preventive maintenance, shop staffing, costs, and performance, while partnering with Operations and Safety to minimize downtime and keep our customers served every day.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in diesel fleet maintenance, 2+ years leadership, and hands-on ability to build a capable

Qualifications

• 5+ years in diesel fleet maintenance or heavy-duty vehicle upkeep.
• 2+ years in maintenance leadership or supervision.
• Experience leading and developing diesel technicians.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, electrical, hydraulics, brakes, and PM.
• Experience managing maintenance programs, parts inventory, vendors, and costs.
• Strong safety mindset and regulatory understanding.
• Leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work with Operations in a fast-paced environment.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop diesel technicians.
• Own safety, reliability, and readiness of the fleet.
• Recruit, onboard, develop, and retain technicians.
• Create development plans for technician progression.
• Plan preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, and outages.
• Ensure PMs are completed on schedule.
• Monitor downtime and maintenance trends; drive improvements.
• Partner with Operations to minimize service disruptions.
• Hold team accountable for safety, productivity, and performance.
• Champion safety culture and maintain a clean shop.
• Track fleet metrics and manage costs.
• Manage spending, parts, tires, vendors, and outside repairs.
• Ensure work orders and records are accurate and complete.
• Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and company rules.
• Support new vehicle deployments and fleet initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes.
