Job summary

Coastal Waste & Recycling is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Manager in Florida to lead the diesel maintenance team responsible for a fleet of collection vehicles and equipment. You will oversee preventive maintenance, repairs, and shop operations to maximize fleet readiness.

You will recruit and develop technicians, drive safety culture, manage costs, and partner with Operations to minimize downtime while maintaining compliance with DOT and OSHA requirements.

Qualifications

• Five+ years in diesel fleet maintenance or heavy‑duty vehicle upkeep.
• Two+ years in maintenance leadership or supervision.
• Experience coaching and developing diesel technicians.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, brakes and PMs.
• Experience managing maintenance budgets, parts and vendors.
• Strong safety mindset and regulatory understanding.
• Ability to lead with operations in a fast‑paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop diesel technicians and build a succession pipeline.
• Own safety, reliability and readiness of the assigned fleet.
• Recruit, onboard and retain skilled technicians with Career Path.
• Plan preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs and downtime priorities.
• Ensure PMs are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Monitor downtime, road calls and repair trends to improve reliability.
• Collaborate with Operations to prioritize repairs and minimize disruptions.
• Maintain shop safety, organization and performance standards.
• Manage spend, parts, tires, tools and vendors for the fleet.
• Ensure accurate work orders and maintenance records.
