Job summary

Select Genetics in Goldsboro, NC, seeks an Assistant Logistics Manager to oversee daily Transportation Services operations for Feed and Shavings divisions, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant transport. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Agriculture, Logistics, or related field; or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years in logistics, transportation, fleet operations, agriculture, or related environment.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience with coaching and development of staff.
• A valid Class A CDL is preferred but not required.
• Working knowledge of DOT, HOS, ELD, and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily transportation operations for Feed and Shavings divisions to ensure timely deliveries.
• Coordinate schedules, routes, and driver assignments to meet operations and customer needs.
• Primary point of contact for resolutions of feed, shavings, and transportation issues with internal and external partners.
• Monitor biosecurity standards; ensure equipment is cleaned, disinfected, and documented.
• Lead collaboration with veterinarians, production teams, and other departments to support continuity and disease prevention.
• Respond to disruptions such as equipment failures, weather events, or inventory shortages.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and drive process improvements in transportation.
• Ensure DOT, ELD, and HOS compliance and safety policies.
• Review driver inspections, fuel usage, and fleet performance for safety and efficiency.
• Oversee transportation-related admin functions and vendor documentation.
• Coach and develop employees; provide performance feedback and disciplinary action when needed.
• Prepare and distribute operational reports to support management decisions.
• Partner with Accounting and Operations to drive cost reductions across transportation.
