Job summary

Metropolitan School District of Washington Township in Indianapolis seeks an Assistant Fleet/Garage Manager for the Transportation Center. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 9:00am–6:00pm; year-round, salaried exempt; salary $72,000 annually.

You will supervise technicians, schedule maintenance, manage parts, and assist with repairs and inspections. Qualifications include a high school diploma, CDL with P/S endorsements or ability to obtain within 6 months, ASE S2 certification, and a mechanical

Qualifications

• Basic computer knowledge and willingness to learn preventative maintenance programs.
• Knowledge of computerized mechanical diagnostics preferred.
• Must have a mechanical background, knowledge of school buses and diesel-powered vehicles; familiarity with State Police inspections.
• Strong organizational and verbal/written communication skills.
• Experience using routing software (VersaTrans) and knowledge of Fleet Vision and Trip Tracker.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising technicians in daily garage operations.
• Schedule all off-site vehicle maintenance.
• Advise technicians on repairs procedures and assist to complete repairs.
• Operate all garage machinery and manage fuel systems and inspections.
• Maintain parts inventory and coordinate distribution to technicians; manage warranty claims.
