Qualifications

  • Knowledge of heavy and light equipment, internal combustion, and diesel engines.
  • Skilled with garage tools, scan tools, and mechanical diagnostics.
  • Valid Indiana's driver's license; CDL B with airbrake endorsement within one year.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on a wide range of city vehicles.
  • Use diagnostic software and advanced tools to troubleshoot systems.
  • Conduct engine, hydraulic, transmission, and electrical repairs.
  • Assist in new vehicle service and decommissioning.
  • Provide road-side assistance for city vehicles.
  • Train and mentor Mid-Level and Entry-Level Technicians.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.

Position: Master Level Technician – Heavy Duty

Pay: $30 – $37 per hour Schedule: 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m., may vary

What You'll Do:
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on a wide range of city vehicles, from construction equipment to fire trucks and SUVs
  • Use diagnostic software and advanced tools to troubleshoot and repair computerized and non-computerized systems
  • Conduct major and minor engine, hydraulic, transmission, and electrical repairs
  • Assist in new vehicle make‑ready service and decommissioning
  • Provide road‑side assistance for city vehicles
  • Train and mentor Mid‑Level and Entry‑Level Technicians
  • Maintain clean, safe work area and comply with all safety procedures
Must‑Have Qualifications:
  • High school diploma (or equivalent) plus 12 years' experience as a skilled mechanic; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of heavy and light equipment, internal combustion and diesel engines
  • Skilled with garage tools, scan tools, and mechanical diagnostics
  • Valid Indiana's driver's license; CDL B with airbrake endorsement within one year
