The City of Indianapolis is seeking a capable vehicle maintenance technician to perform general upkeep on City fleet vehicles. You will read work orders, diagnose malfunctions, and apply maintenance modifications according to manufacturers' manuals and data.

You will adjust components, time ignition systems, replace subassemblies, and assist junior staff while operating wrecker or service trucks. Safety rules are mandatory on every shift and overtime may be required.

Qualificações

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must have a valid Operator's license upon reporting to work.
• Ability to operate power tools, alignments, wheel balancing machines and engine analyzing machines.
• Ability to lift over 50 lbs.
• Ability to carry up to 15 lbs.
• Ability to perform the following: straight pulling, reaching above the shoulder, pushing, walking, standing and kneeling.

Responsabilidades

• Reads work orders and maintenance forms to ascertain the condition of vehicles and maintenance needs.
• Diagnose and isolate causes of malfunctions in vehicles to be repaired.
• Interpret manuals, lube orders and data relevant to vehicle maintenance.
• Adjusts operating mechanisms using gauges and templates.
• Times magnetos, distributors, injectors and pumps.
• Replace subassemblies and accessories and perform repairs.
• Instructs and assists lower skilled personnel in maintenance practices.
• Operate wrecker or service trucks.
• Observe all job-site safety regulations.
• May be required to work overtime.
• Tear down and reassemble engines and other components as needed.
• Maintain responsibility for tools/equipment supplied by the City.
