Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a Mechanic / Technician to maintain and repair our fleet of diesel tractors, trailers, and related equipment. You will diagnose issues, perform preventive maintenance, and support safety and documentation requirements.

The role requires diesel experience or formal education, tools in hand, and the ability to lift heavy components. We offer pay starting at $32.36 per hour, with potential bonuses and tuition reimbursement opportunities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or GED), preferred
• One year experience performing vehicle maintenance or eligible for a maintenance certificate or Apprentice Program
• One or more Medium/Heavy Truck ASE Certifications and Class A CDL preferred
• Must possess necessary tools to perform tasks
• Valid driver’s license may be required depending on work assignment
• Knowledge of testing equipment, gauges and diagnostic systems
• Basic computer skills including maintenance programs and diagnostic systems
• Basic knowledge of gas and diesel engines
• Familiarity with precision measurement instruments and lifting devices preferred
• Ability to lift components weighing ~110 pounds with assistance
• Ability to operate vehicles with manual and automatic transmissions
• Paint and body work experience preferred
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team
• Basic written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative and routine maintenance on tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment
• Performs basic diagnostics to identify source of trouble and makes necessary adjustments
• Works with other technicians in performing preventative maintenance and repairs
• Ensures proper and accurate documentation of all maintenance performed
• Performs safety inspections and documents the work
• Performs paint and body work on vehicles, as required
• Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
• Perform other duties as required
