Job summary

Primoris T&D Services, LLC is seeking a Fleet Shop Tech in Odessa to maintain and repair heavy equipment and company vehicles. You will diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, perform repairs, and conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure safety and readiness.

The role requires 3–5 years in heavy equipment or diesel tech, knowledge of diesel systems and welding, and a valid driver's license (CDL preferred). Team and safety-focused environment with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3–5 years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic or diesel technician.
• Proficiency diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
• Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safety protocols.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Valid driver's license; CDL preferred.
• Proficiency with diagnostic software and tools.
• Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and work in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, and other company vehicles, including oil changes, lubrication, fluid checks, and filter replacements.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and personal expertise.
• Execute complex repairs on engines, transmissions, differentials, brakes, steering systems, and other components.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to identify and address potential problems.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including lighting, wiring, and control modules.
• Perform welding and fabrication as needed for equipment repair and modification.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including parts used and labor hours.
• Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as DOT regulations.
• Assist with inventory management of parts and supplies.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and equipment operators regarding repair status and potential issues.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
