Job summary

Davis Cartage Co. in Corunna, Michigan is hiring an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our fleet maintenance team.

You will inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial trucks and diesel-powered equipment, performing preventative maintenance and ensuring DOT compliance while working with a team of skilled professionals.

Qualifications

Two or more years of diesel mechanic or related mechanical experience preferred
Experience repairing commercial trucks and diesel engines
Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities
Knowledge of diesel engine systems, drivetrain components, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems
Experience using hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and shop equipment
Ability to work independently while maintaining high-quality workmanship
Strong attention to safety and DOT compliance

Responsibilities

Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial trucks and diesel-powered equipment to ensure safe, reliable fleet operations
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and engine performance issues
Inspect and repair diesel engines used in commercial trucks
Disassemble engines to identify worn or damaged components
Rebuild diesel engines and replace defective parts
Repair or replace pistons, bearings, gears, valves, bushings, and related engine components
Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled inspections
Use precision measuring instruments and specialized diagnostic equipment
Operate machine tools, engine lathes, and boring equipment
Welding and cutting components using arc welding and flame cutting equipment when required
Complete repair documentation accurately
Ensure all repairs meet DOT regulations and company safety standards
Work independently and as part of a professional maintenance team
