Davis Cartage Co. in Corunna, MI is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial trucks and diesel-powered equipment to ensure safe, DOT-compliant fleet operations.

This full-time role offers competitive pay ($27.00-$28.00/hour) and a Monday–Friday schedule with 5:00 AM–5:00 PM or 2:00 PM–2:00 AM shifts. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, and training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of diesel mechanic experience preferred.
• Experience repairing commercial trucks and diesel engines.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
• Knowledge of diesel engine systems, drivetrain components, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems.
• Experience using hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and shop equipment.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
• Strong safety awareness and DOT compliance.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and engine performance issues.
• Inspect and repair diesel engines used in commercial trucks.
• Disassemble engines to identify worn or damaged components.
• Rebuild diesel engines and replace defective parts.
• Repair or replace pistons, bearings, gears, valves, and related components.
• Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled inspections.
• Use precision measuring tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Operate machine tools and engine lathes as needed.
• Weld and cut components when required.
• Complete repair documentation accurately and timely.
• Ensure repairs meet safety and DOT regulations.
