Job summary

Davis Cartage Co. in Corunna, Michigan is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain our fleet of commercial trucks and diesel equipment.

This is a full-time position with a day shift offering steady, year-round work in a fast-paced transportation environment. You will perform preventative maintenance, utilize diagnostic tools, and ensure DOT-compliant operations while collaborating with a professional maintenance team.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of diesel mechanic or related mechanical experience preferred.
• Experience repairing commercial trucks and diesel engines.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
• Knowledge of diesel engine systems, drivetrain components, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems.
• Experience using hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and shop equipment.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
• Strong attention to safety and DOT compliance.

Responsibilities

• Diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and engine performance issues
• Inspecting and repairing diesel engines used in commercial trucks
• Disassembling engines to identify worn or damaged components
• Rebuilding diesel engines and replacing defective parts
• Repairing or replacing pistons, bearings, gears, valves, bushings, and related engine components
• Performing preventative maintenance and scheduled inspections
• Using precision measuring instruments and specialized diagnostic equipment
• Operating machine tools, engine lathes, and boring equipment
• Welding and cutting components using arc welding and flame cutting equipment when required
• Completing repair documentation accurately
• Ensuring all repairs meet DOT regulations and company safety standards
• Working independently and as part of a professional maintenance team
