Job summary

Davis Cartage Co. is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our Corunna fleet maintenance team. This full-time role focuses on servicing and repairing diesel-powered trucks and equipment to ensure safe, reliable operations.

You will diagnose mechanical, electrical, and engine issues, perform preventative maintenance, and document repairs. The position offers competitive pay and benefits in a fast-paced transportation environment.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of diesel mechanic or related mechanical experience preferred.
• Experience repairing commercial trucks and diesel engines.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
• Knowledge of diesel engine systems, drivetrain components, brakes, suspension and electrical systems.
• Experience using hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and shop equipment.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
• Strong attention to safety and DOT compliance.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and engine performance issues.
• Inspect and repair diesel engines used in commercial trucks.
• Disassemble engines to identify worn or damaged components.
• Rebuild diesel engines and replace defective parts.
• Repair pistons, bearings, gears, valves, bushings, and related engine components.
• Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled inspections.
• Use precision measuring instruments and specialized diagnostic equipment.
• Operate machine tools, engine lathes, and boring equipment.
• Weld and cut components when required.
• Complete repair documentation accurately.
• Ensure all repairs meet DOT regulations and company safety standards.
• Work independently and as part of a professional maintenance team.
