Job summary

JERRY in Saint Paul, MN seeks a Heavy-Duty Diesel Service Writer to serve as the primary liaison between fleet customers, owner-operators, and diesel technicians. You will translate issues into repair orders, schedule maintenance, and manage shop workflow administration.

The role requires strong customer service skills, knowledge of Class 7-8 trucks, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced shop environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; an Associate degree in Diesel Technology is a plus.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in heavy-duty truck service writing, parts, or service coordination.
• Strong understanding of Class 7-8 trucks, diesel engines, air brake systems, and heavy-duty drivetrains.
• Proficiency with Shop Management Software and OEM diagnostic/warranty portals.
• Valid Driver's License required; CDL-A or B is highly preferred for moving commercial assets.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and drivers, gathering accurate vehicle, fleet, and contact details.
• Translate customer mechanical issues into actionable repair orders and estimates.
• Schedule preventive maintenance, DOT inspections, and emergency repairs to optimize shop flow.
• Open detailed repair orders documenting mileage, engine hours, and exact complaints.
• Process warranty claims and recalls in accordance with OEM guidelines and finalize invoices.
