Job summary

Metropolitan School District of Washington Township in Indianapolis seeks a Vehicle Technician Specialist (Mechanic) to maintain and repair a fleet of buses and other district vehicles at the Transportation Center. You will diagnose mechanical, electrical, fuel, and air system issues and perform routine preventive maintenance with possibility of emergency road service calls.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma or equivalent and a valid CDL within six months of start date.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL within six months of start date and maintain thereafter.
• Knowledge of gas and diesel engines and related systems.
• Ability to use repair manuals and parts catalogs.

Responsibilities

• Repairing and maintaining all township vehicles including buses, cars, trucks, and vans.
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, fuel, and air systems problems.
• Performing emergency road service including weekend and evening service calls.
• Removing and replacing engines, transmissions, and tires.
• Performing preventive maintenance as scheduled.
• Assisting with preparations for annual state bus inspections.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisors.
