Job summary

Indy is seeking a general maintenance technician to service City vehicles, reading work orders to determine maintenance needs and applying repairs. You will diagnose malfunctions, interpret manuals, adjust engine systems, and replace subassemblies with precision.

You will also guide less experienced staff and operate wrecker or service trucks in a safety-driven environment. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Operator's license required.
• Knowledge of basic vehicle repair procedures.
• Must have hand tools relevant to repair.
• Ability to lift over 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Must pass pre-employment physical.

Responsibilities

• Provide general maintenance to City vehicles and interpret work orders.
• Diagnose and isolate causes of malfunctions.
• Interpret manuals, lube orders and data for vehicle maintenance.
• Adjusts engines and related systems with appropriate tools and gauges.
• Times components and replaces subassemblies as needed.
• Instructs and assists lower skilled personnel in maintenance.
• Operate wrecker or service trucks and follow safety regulations.
• May be required to work overtime.
• Tear down and reassemble components as needed.
• Responsible for tools and equipment supplied by the City.
