Job summary

Ford Motor Company in Livonia, MI is seeking a Ford Certified Flat Rate Automotive Technician for a new service facility expansion. The role offers up to $50/hr with a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance. Work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with comprehensive benefits and 401(k).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree or automotive tech school training preferred.
• Minimum 5 years Ford Technician experience.
• Current Ford Factory Certification required.
• Michigan certification or relocation willingness.
• Experience diagnosing Ford vehicles and related systems.
• Proficient with Ford diagnostic tools and manuals.
• ASE certs are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive inspections, diagnostics, testing and troubleshooting.
• Diagnose and repair engine, mechanical, electrical and drivability concerns.
• Complete repairs per Ford factory and dealer standards.
• Conduct test drives to verify repairs.
• Maintain repair orders and service documentation.
• Coordinate with service advisors on additional work.
• Assist with customer ride-alongs and explanations.
• Keep vehicles clean during repair and manage parts inventory.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Perform comprehensive vehicle inspections, diagnostics, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Accurately diagnose and repair engine, mechanical, electrical, and drivability concerns.
• Complete repairs in accordance with Ford factory and dealership standards.
• Conduct test drives to verify proper operation and quality of repairs.
• Identify and recommend additional safety and maintenance repairs as needed.
• Maintain accurate repair orders and service documentation.
• Work with service advisors and dispatchers regarding additional repair requirements.
• Assist with customer ride-alongs and technical explanations when needed.
• Ensure vehicles remain clean throughout the repair process.
• Manage parts and supply inventory as necessary.
• Adhere to warranty procedures and cost-effective repair practices.
• Maintain organized, safe, and efficient work areas.
• Stay current with evolving automotive technology and Ford service procedures.
• Attend required training sessions and company meetings.
• Follow all safety, attendance, ethical, and operational policies.

Qualifications Needed

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate Degree or Automotive Technical School training preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of current Ford Technician experience required.
• Current Ford Factory Certification required.
• Current Michigan State Mechanic Certification required, or willingness to obtain Michigan certification upon relocation.
• Strong experience diagnosing and repairing Ford vehicles.
• Proven background troubleshooting engines, drivability issues, electrical systems, and mechanical failures.
• Experience performing warranty repairs and adhering to manufacturer standards.
• Ability to utilize Ford diagnostic equipment, repair manuals, and technical resources.
• ASE Certifications preferred.
• Strong understanding of dealership service operations and flat-rate environments.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and maneuver automotive components safely.
• Must successfully pass background check, drug screening, and reference verification.
