Job summary

Carter Lumber is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our Corporate Accounting team in Kent, OH. The role supports a variety of accounting functions with a focus on maintaining fixed asset records, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

Responsibilities include reviewing capital projects, recording assets, reconciling to the general ledger, and assisting with month-end close. Strong data entry, Excel skills, and confidentiality are essential for success in this onsite

Qualifications

• Minimum accounting experience and working knowledge of GAAP.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and records.
• Ability to manage recurring tasks and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and cross-department collaboration skills.
• Maintain confidentiality of financial information.

Responsibilities

• Review capital projects for accuracy and record assets in the fixed asset system per policies.
• Maintain fixed asset records: additions, transfers, disposals, depreciation, and other asset activity.
• Reconcile fixed asset activity to the general ledger and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for assigned activities.
• Crosstrain on other Corporate Accounting functions and provide backup as needed.
• Assist with month-end close and related accounting duties.
• Prepare fixed asset and capital expenditure reports and asset listings as requested.
