Job summary

Carter Lumber is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting team in Kent, OH. This onsite role supports month-end close, general ledger, fixed asset and real estate accounting, and financial reporting, ensuring accurate statements and compliance with GAAP.

The Senior Accountant will prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting packages, collaborating with departments to maintain controls and drive process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting and at least five years of relevant accounting experience.
• Working knowledge of financial statements, general ledger accounting, fixed asset accounting, and GAAP.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
• Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities, and maintain confidentiality.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
• This will be an onsite position at the corporate office in Kent, OH.

Responsibilities

• Track real estate construction projects from start to finish, including coding invoices, maintaining project records, and capitalization decisions.
• Capitalize and maintain fixed assets for acquisitions, disposals and transfers per GAAP.
• Perform regular reconciliations of fixed asset accounts (including CIP) and resolve discrepancies.
• Record real estate transactions, including acquisitions, property purchases, sales, and related asset capitalizations.
• Prepare and reconcile capital expenditure reports for monthly reporting and capital budgeting with the fixed asset team.
