Job summary

The Virgin Islands Water & Power Authority is seeking an Accountant II to perform intermediate level accounting work, including analyzing and controlling transactions and maintaining records.

You will prepare monthly financial statements, perform bank reconciliations, and support audits while ensuring accuracy of fixed assets, depreciation, and asset inventories. A Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and at least three years of professional experience are required.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and practices related to financial transactions.
• Ability to prepare detailed and accurate financial reports.
• Experience with accounting systems and controls.

Responsibilities

• Identify and record equipment, buildings, and other property.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and schedules; audit accounting records and transactions.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations of major general ledger accounts.
• Prepare accounting schedules for management and external auditors.
• Reconcile fixed asset subsidiary ledger with general ledger.
• Calculate depreciation of fixed assets and conduct physical inventories.
• Assist auditors with inquiries and audit schedules.
• Conduct analysis related to fixed assets as requested by management.
