Fitter/Tailor: NYC, Long Island, NY, Hoboken, NJ & Greenwich, CT

We are looking for a dynamic professional Fitter/Tailor, distinguished by their charisma, technical prowess, and professional integrity. This role will include fittings, sewing on the machine, building client relationships and supporting the tailor shop manager. This is a full‑time role in New York City, Brooklyn, Long Island, Hoboken, NJ and Greenwich, CT with salary, full benefits, and opportunities for future growth.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a professional, warm, welcoming studio environment.
• Conduct fittings according to the Alteration Specialists Standard.
• Build relationships with clients, influencers, brands and stylists.
• Make every client feel welcome and confident in the skills of you and your team.
• Demonstrate meeting personal production targets.
• Cultivate proficiency with men’s, women’s, and bridal alterations as well as difficult fabrics.
• Constantly evaluate processes that are not efficient and propose solutions to optimize.
• Inform front desk of all re‑alterations.
• Keep track of and scan production during the day and communicate with front desk to confirm accuracy.

Experience

This is a mid‑career role.

Compensation

Range is from $18/hour – $35/hour. Standard/Basic Tailors: $18–$24/hour. Intermediate: $25–$30/hour. Advanced: $30–$35/hour. This is based on skill level and classification of tailoring work.
