Job summary

Aerotek is seeking an experienced Shipfitter to support shipbuilding and repair projects. You will read blueprints, lay out and assemble steel components, and prepare parts for welding in a fast-paced production shipyard.

This contract position is onsite in Atlanta, GA, offering pay from $45 to $55 per hour plus a daily per diem. Candidates should have up to 4 years of shipfitter experience and strong safety and quality focus.

Qualifications

  • Shipfitter with up to 4 years' shipyard experience.
  • Strong blueprint and drawing interpretation skills.
  • Experience with structural fit-up, alignment, and assembly.
  • Familiarity with shipyard fabrication tools and equipment.
  • Ability to work to tight tolerances and quality standards.
  • Experience with tack welding and weld preparation.
  • Strong understanding of shipyard safety practices.
  • Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and correct fabrication issues.

Shipfitters $45/HR + $140 Daily Per Diem

Position is located in Charleston South Carolina

What You'll Be Doing

As a Shipfitter, you'll play a critical role in the fabrication and assembly of structural components used in ship construction and repair. You'll work from blueprints and technical drawings to ensure precise fit-up, alignment, and assembly before welding operations begin.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and job specification
  • Lay out, position, fit, and assemble steel components and ship structures
  • Prepare materials through grinding, straightening, drilling, reaming, deburring, and other fabrication techniques

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Atlanta, GA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
