Job summary

Chief Industries, Inc. in Lancaster, SC seeks a skilled welder to lay out and weld metal components using GMAW processes aligned with blueprint specifications.

You will ensure safety, quality and timely completion, assemble steel frames, operate related equipment, and manage paperwork with minimal supervision. A strong focus on hazard prevention and team collaboration is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience interpreting fabrication drawings and data sheets.
• Knowledge of basic welding techniques.

Responsibilities

• Lay out and position metal components according to blueprint specification for GMAW welding.

• Operate equipment and perform routine maintenance; understand welding codes.

Job description

Responsible for laying out and positioning metal components according to blueprint specification GMAW welding processes on production materials.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Carries out responsibilities with safety and efficiency as a priority. Prioritizes the well-being of colleagues and actively contributes to the safety program by collaborating, sharing ideas, and voicing concerns. Adheres to training guidelines, policies, and procedures while maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Proactively identifies and addresses potential hazards.
• Ensure compliance with quality control standards and maintain required AWS certifications.
• Assemble steel frames through final welding, including lifting and positioning heavy components.
• Operate assigned equipment with full knowledge of its capabilities and applicable welding codes, handle machine setup and routine maintenance.
• Complete all job-related paperwork and data entry accurately and manage tasks independently with minimal supervision, while maintaining the required weld Earned Hour Ratio.
• Operates forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment to safely and efficiently transport materials as required.
• Capable of working independently or as a team with minimum supervision.

Education:

• High School Diploma, or GED, preferred.

Shift: 6:00am-4:30pm

Supervisory Responsibilities: Responsible for creating a collaborative, safe and hazard free environment that is driven by employee involvement. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to leading departmental continuous improvement projects, supporting and executing all safety and health policies and programs, employee training and incident investigations.

Qualifications

Experience

Preferred

Skilled in interpreting fabrication drawings and data sheets for accurate assembly

Strong mathematical abilities, including working with fractions and decimals.

Proficient in using hand tools such as tape measures, squares, protractors, Oxy Acetylene, cutting/plasma torch, and grinding equipment.

Knowledge of basic welding techniques and metal fabrication.
