Job summary

Plus One, part of the Optum Workplace Well-being portfolio, seeks an energetic Exercise Specialist to support a high-profile fitness center in San Jose, CA. You will conduct consultations, design progressive programs and educate members on healthy lifestyle choices.

The role requires a relevant degree or certification, CPR/First Aid, and strong Microsoft Office skills. As part of our team, you will help drive engagement and deliver exceptional service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, kinesiology or related field or a NCCA-accredited personal training certification.
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
• Industry knowledge in exercise testing and prescription, and ability to operate fitness tools and equipment.
• Ability to network, engage and interact with all clients, guests and members.
• Competence with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Conduct ongoing fitness consultations, including movement screens, needs analyses and goal setting, to recommend fitness programming and wellness services.
• Develop progressive fitness programming to support and motivate participants and ensure a positive experience.
• Monitor and instruct participants in safe use of cardio, strength, and flexibility equipment.
• Educate participants on health and fitness information and available programs.
• Complete internal development courses through the LMS.
• Maintain positive customer and client experience with high-quality service.
