Job summary

Plus One, an Optum Company, is seeking an Exercise Specialist to support a high-profile fitness center in Newport Beach, CA. You will conduct fitness consultations, perform movement screens, and develop progressive training plans to help participants achieve their goals.

The role requires a relevant degree or NCCA certification, CPR/First Aid, and knowledge of exercise testing and prescription. You will use Microsoft Office tools and engage with clients to deliver a positive wellness experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, kinesiology or related field or an NCCA‑accredited personal training certification.
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
• Knowledge of exercise testing (assessments) and exercise prescription (program design).
• Ability to network, engage and interact with clients and guests.
• Competence with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Conduct ongoing fitness consultations, movement screens, needs analyses and goal setting to tailor fitness programming.
• Develop comprehensive progressive fitness programming to motivate participants and enhance experience.
• Instruct participants on safe and effective use of cardio, flexibility and strength equipment.
• Educate participants on health and fitness information and available wellness services.
• Complete internal development courses through the learning platform.
• Maintain high-quality customer and client experience.
