Aquila's Fitness Specialist (as needed) assists members in safe and effective exercise and performs a wide range of technical exercise and administrative duties in the health/fitness center.

The position is located in the Los Angeles 90012 zip code. The work schedule is as-needed, based on your availability. The fitness center is staffed Monday-Friday from 12 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The pay rate is $22/hour, with potential additional earnings from personal training commissions. No weekend work is required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise exercise areas
• Educate members on safe exercise techniques
• Teach group exercise classes
• Conduct personal training sessions
• Perform exercise assessments and prescribe exercises following ACSM guidelines
• Assess cardiovascular, strength, flexibility, and body composition; evaluate data and identify high-risk participants
• Spot members and assist with equipment usage
• Explain equipment functions
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of all equipment
• Follow departmental, club, and client policies and procedures
• Attend staff meetings
• Assist with wellness and fitness promotions and external events
• Perform administrative duties daily

Qualifications

• B.S. in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or related field OR active NCCA-accredited fitness certification (e.g., ACE, NASM, AFAA, ACSM, NCSF, NSCA)
• Active CPR certification
• At least 1 year of experience supervising adults during exercise
