Job summary

Plus One, an Optum company, is seeking a General Manager to lead a high-profile fitness center in Philadelphia. You will direct operations, staff, revenue and marketing, while collaborating with the Client Coordinator on programs and staffing.

You’ll balance on-site leadership with hands-on engagement with members. The role emphasizes strong people management, financial oversight, and delivering exceptional service, with a focus on growth and smooth operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 2–3 years of management experience.
• Ability to multi-task, manage time, solve problems, stay organized.
• Experience hiring, coaching, training and developing staff.
• Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting and strategic business planning.
• Prior experience in a corporate fitness or spa setting.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications are current.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and payroll systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to set the site’s tone and make it engaging for staff and members.
• Implement programs and marketing to boost member engagement.
• Oversee hiring, coaching, scheduling, training and performance management.
• Address member feedback promptly with professional customer service.
• Provide recurring reports to leadership.
• Ensure gold-standard customer service and programming.
• Encourage professional development and retention of staff.
• Develop and enforce policies and procedures.
