Job summary

Commonwealth of VA Careers is seeking a Financial Support Specialist to provide critical accounting assistance, including data entry, invoice verification, and financial reporting. The role involves processing AP/AR, SPCC charges, travel, and inventory-related transactions within Cardinal and IMS systems.

The ideal candidate will interpret basic policy, maintain accurate records, and respond to internal inquiries while ensuring compliance with retention guidelines and GAAP principles.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform data entry accurately in computerized financial systems.
• Ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
• Ability to interpret basic policy and procedures.
• Knowledge of GAAP and governmental accounting beneficial.
• Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable workflows.

Responsibilities

• Provide financial support for a variety of accounting transactions.
• Receive, verify and reconcile invoices and perform data entry.
• Assist in preparing financial reports and queries from Cardinal and other systems.
• Maintain financial documents per retention policies.
• Respond to questions from staff and contacts; support time and attendance, travel, procurement, and SPCC charges.
