Job summary

Virginia Department of Transportation is seeking a Financial Support roles to maintain and process a variety of accounting transactions, including AP, AR, SPCC direct charge, travel, and inventory activities. You will perform data entry, verify charges, and assist in generating financial reports while ensuring compliance with retention policies.

The role involves interpreting policies, applying procedures, and responding to inquiries from internal and external customers.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with internal and external customers and to work independently or as a team member.
• Ability to report during emergency operations.
• Experience interpreting and applying basic policy, procedures and implement procedural and transactional changes.
• Experience performing data entry into automated financial systems.
• Experience preparing financial reports and running queries.

Responsibilities

• Accounts Payable: Verify invoices, perform data entry, and reconcile charges to Cardinal receiver.
• Accounts Receivable: Data entry of AR docs, obtain supervisory approvals, resolve discrepancies, run queries.
• Administrative Duties: Assist with special projects and general administrative tasks.
• Administrative Support: Provide fiscal and accounting support to Districts and Divisions; respond to queries.
