Job summary

Virginia Department of Transportation is seeking a detail-oriented financial support specialist to process accounts payable and receivable, maintain financial documents, and assist with reports. Responsibilities include data entry across Cardinal, IMS, and NVision systems, plus SPCC procurement and travel processing.

You will provide administrative support to multiple districts, respond to inquiries, and help ensure compliance with retention policies and set procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience in accounting support and financial data entry is required or preferred.
• Ability to explain basic policies and procedures to staff.
• Proficiency with financial systems and office software.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data handling.
• Experience with accounts payable/receivable is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Accounts Payable: verify invoices, reconcile charges, and data-enter into Cardinal receiver.
• Accounts Receivable: process AR docs, ensure approvals, and resolve discrepancies.
• Administrative Duties: support special projects and office tasks as assigned.
• Financial Data: run queries, compare expenditures, maintain reports and records.
• Inventory Data Processing: enter receipts/counts in IMS and Cardinal, verify daily activity.
• Procurement/SPCC: prepare requisitions, verify card charges, maintain documentation.
• Time & Attendance: input time and leave data, ensure proper signatures and approvals.
• Travel: process travel authorizations and reimbursements with proper approvals.
