Job summary

Columbia Basin College seeks a FiscalAnalyst 2 to ensure financial compliance with all institutional, state and federal regulations and policies. The role collaborates with Accounting Services to maintain accuracy in accounting processes and training campus personnel.

The position reports to the Assistant Director for Accounts Receivable & Student Finance and involves year-end closing, grants compliance, and maintaining financial records across departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Business or Finance from an accredited college or university.
• One (1) year of relevant experience in an accounting or bookkeeping position.
• OR Associate's degree and three (3) years of relevant experience in accounting or bookkeeping.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating essential functions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review and verify fiscal reports, analyze financial data, and provide recommendations for accounting system and process improvements in accordance with GAAP; manage compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines for awards.
• Review and reconcile student accounts; develop procedures to improve fiscal operations and ensure compliance with accounting practices, processes, and regulations.
• Maintain and analyze accounts payable/receivable activities; ensure timely payments and compliance with reporting and audit requirements.
• Monitor and reconcile past due accounts, analyze write-offs, and prepare AR aging and metrics reports; audit bank confirmations and revenue transactions.
• Review, analyze, and correct discrepancies in financial records and reports; prepare adjusting entries and support monthly closing and reconciliation.
• Contribute to development and review of Accounting Services desk manuals; ensure alignment with accounting standards and regulations.
• Assist with fiscal year-end closing and grant reporting training for staff; serve as fiscal point of contact for accounts receivable, accounts payable, and interagency contracts; assist with capital asset and debt service accounting.
• Support grant administration by analyzing awards, monitoring indirect cost rates, and ensuring compliance with budgetary and regulatory requirements.
