Job summary

St. Clair County RESA is seeking a Financial Information System (FIS) Database Manager to support PowerSchool management for district customers. You will handle data integrity, reporting, and issue resolution while collaborating with internal staff.

The role requires SQL Server, scripting (PowerShell, Python), and Windows/Google apps expertise, with training provided for PowerSchool Business Plus. Regular attendance and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems preferred.
• Minimum two years' experience in customer support; school business knowledge valued.
• Strong working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office, Google apps, web browsers, and email systems.
• Experience with PowerSchool Business Plus is desired; training provided.
• Strong SQL Server/database knowledge and ability to write queries.
• Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell and Python.
• Ability to quickly learn new applications and systems; support customers of varying skill levels.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with staff, districts, and the public.
• Regular and predictable attendance is essential for this position.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily technical support to customers via phone, email, and direct contact.
• Prepare training materials, guides, and technical documentation.
• Monitor database performance and assist with updates, patches, and upgrades.
• Develop, modify, and maintain custom reports.
• Create and maintain automated processes using PowerShell, SQL jobs, or scripting languages.
• Support data integrations between FIS PowerSchool and third-party systems.
• Demonstrate strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities.
• Conduct QA testing and documentation for new applications and features.
• Be self-motivated and tackle critical application tasks.
• Assist customers in developing special reports and reporting changes.
• Make independent decisions and provide backup support to peers.
