Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, seeks a Part‑Time Peer Mentor Supervisor for the First‑Year Experience Office to supervise 15‑25 peer mentors and 2‑3 lead student coordinators each term. You will run one‑on‑one check‑ins, plan weekly trainings, and steer ongoing mentor development.

Collaborating with General Education stakeholders and UNIV 101 programming, you’ll help design interventions to boost first‑year student success and retention, while assisting with recruitment and onboarding

Qualifications

• Supervise 15-25 peer mentors and 2-3 lead coordinators each term/semester.
• Meet mentees individually biweekly to provide guidance and support.
• Plan and direct weekly mentor trainings and professional development meetings.
• Collaborate with campus teams to support first-year student success.

Responsibilities

• Supervision and training of student employees.
• Meet individually with peer mentors for biweekly supervision.
• Supervise the work of two to three assigned lead student coordinators.
• Assist mentors to develop interventions to engage with and support first-year students.
• Contribute to regular mentor trainings as assigned.
• Plan and direct weekly professional development meetings for new and returning peer mentors.
• Evaluate performance of peer mentors and direct remediation.
• Lead and administer projects to improve operations of peer mentoring training/development.
• Assist full-time FYE staff with recruitment and hiring of new student employees.
• Participate in weekly staff meetings and other events supportive of peer mentor training/development.
• Serve as a liaison between FYE and campus stakeholders.
• Innovate ways to create transformative experiences through operations and training.
• Research student development theory and innovate new ideas to improve retention and academic success.
