George Washington University’s Columbian College of Arts and Sciences seeks a Senior Academic Advisor for First-Year Experience to guide new students through their academic journeys. You will work with CCAS staff to support transitions and create individualized academic plans, leveraging GW resources and campus partners.

The role involves advising, program development, and collaboration across offices to promote student success.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study.

Mansioni

• Assist students with navigating transitions, exploring options, overcoming challenges, and developing academic plans by individual appointments and group advising sessions.
• Master knowledge of GW rules, regulations, policies, and procedures as well as the academic curriculum and its rigor.
• Track and manage student records through paper and electronic systems.
• Attend staff meetings and professional development opportunities to strengthen the team.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance internal projects that further student success and advisor accessibility.
• Assist with review/assessment of first-year experience course for newly admitted CCAS first-year students.
• Participate in large-scale University events such as new student orientation, graduation, etc.
• Plan and execute workshops, co-curricular networking, and personal development programming for first-year experience students.
• Collaborate with the Office of Student Success, Career Services Center, Center for Student Engagement, Academic Commons, Registrar’s Office, and other campus partners in planning first-year advising activities.
