Job summary

BorgWarner in South Carolina is seeking a hands-on technician to diagnose, disassemble and repair transfer cases and related products, supporting quality improvement and scrap reduction in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

You will observe operation, dismantle components, process defects per nonconforming material procedures, inspect parts for conformity, and document evaluations in FTQT/FPY reports while working safely in a non-climate controlled environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Basic math and reading comprehension needed.
• Familiarity with SAP Inventory and Excel preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Observes products in operation to locate trouble and abnormalities.
• Dismantles products to identify defective parts and repair or replace.
• Inspects components for conformity and completes required documentation.
• Documents evaluation data in spreadsheet reports (FTQT/FPY).
• Maintains safety and housekeeping standards in a non-climate controlled area.

Job DescriptionPosition SummaryDiagnoses, repairs and disassembles transfer cases and other products to help diagnosis quality issues and reduce scrap.Key Roles & ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must have the ability to be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Standard Duties:Observes products in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble/abnormalities.Dismantles products to identify and remove any defective parts.Process defective part through nonconforming material procedureInspect good components to verify they are conforming and able to be returned to the assembly line.Repairs or replaces any defective parts.Lubricates and cleans parts.Evaluate rejects and determine root cause.Enter evaluation data into spreadsheet to create a report including FTQT Log and FPY spreadsheet.Safety, Health and Physical Requirements:Stand for long periods of time including during operation of stand up lifts.Lifting shoulder high up to 35 lbs repetitively.Stepping up and down off lift; walking long distances over extended periods.Ability to work in a fast paced environment.Working in a non-climate controlled environment.Repetitive motion activities including but not limited to box cutting, standing, lifting, loading/unloading carts.All employees are responsible for knowing, understanding and complying with the safety policies and procedures.Problem Solving: Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Works well in group problem solving situations.Quality of Work: Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.
