BorgWarner seeks an Assembly Operator for our United States facility in South Carolina. The role focuses on assembling components, inspecting quality, and operating assembly machines in a fast-paced environment.

Candidates should have a High School diploma or GED, and ideally 6 months of assembly experience in a lean setting. Basic computer skills and SAP familiarity are a plus. Teamwork, attention to detail, and safety are essential for success.

  • Able to read and follow job aids/work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble components and operate assembly machines to meet quality standards.
  • Visually inspect parts and perform assembly using hand tools and gages.
  • Load/unload materials, move parts safely, and maintain clean work areas.
  • Follow safety policies, wear PPE, and adhere to standard work procedures.
  • Participate in 5S and housekeeping activities; document SAP entries when required.
  • Perform assigned duties within cycle times and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Assembles components, loads, unloads, and operates Assembly machines within a fast-paced environment to produce world-class quality products.To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the ability to be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Standard Duties:Must have the ability and willingness to be trained on and perform all assembly line operations within the BorgWarner Assembly manufacturing process.Visually inspect and assemble small components to quality standards.Use hand-held gages.Work with automatic transmission fluid.Work well in a team environment.Assembly Operators will be expected to safely perform, as needed, all tasks assigned by the Team Lead/Coordinator including all positions within the Assembly department.Safely operates all equipment in the Assembly department.Reads and understands job aids/work instructions and/or follows oral instructions to execute the component flow requirements.Manually loads, unloads, and/or maneuvers materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, baskets, and shelves on foot and by hand as required (see physical requirements).Support 5S / Housekeeping activities as required.Use appropriate hold tags to process defective parts through nonconforming material procedure.SAP entries and transactions required as needed.Adherence to standard work procedures to assemble units in addition to development and continuous improvement to the standards.Performs required work steps within required cycle time.Wear all required PPE and follow safety protocols.Additional duties may be assigned.Safety, Health and Physical Requirements:Stand for long periods of time including during operation of stand-up lifts.Lifting shoulder high up to 35 lbs. repetitively.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Repetitive motion activities including but not limited to assembly, walking, standing, lifting, loading/unloading carts.Occasional climbing of steps.All employees are responsible for knowing, understanding and complying with the safety policies and procedures.The noise level in the work environment is moderate.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.SafetyJudgement/Decision MakingTeamwork/Interpersonal SkillsAttendanceAttention to detail and accuracy of workEducation: High School diploma/GED or basic skills assessment required.Experience:6 months of assembly related experience preferred.Experience in fast paced industrial lean environment.Computer Skills:To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer knowledge.EEO Statement“BorgWarner is an equal employment opportunity employer such that all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, age, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, national origin, disability or protected veteran status.”-Internal Use Only: Direct HourlyGlobal Terms of Use and Privacy StatementCarefully read the BorgWarner Privacy Policy before using this website.
