Job summary

RSU 57 is seeking a dedicated First Team Boys Basketball Coach – Assistant Coach at Massabesic High School in Waterboro, ME. You will assist the Head Coach and Athletic Director with practices, game prep, and mentoring student-athletes to promote sportsmanship and Mustang pride.

Responsibilities include planning practices, teaching fundamentals, supervising players, and supporting academics while ensuring safety and compliance with district and state policies.

Qualifications

• Previous coaching experience (high school or college level) or playing experience.
• Strong knowledge of rules, techniques, and strategy.
• Meets RSU 57 and MPA eligibility requirements.

• Travel with the team to away games and events.

Position Summary

Massabesic High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate First Team Boys BasketballCoach to join our athletic department. The ideal candidate will assist in developing a competitive and character-driven program aligned with our school's athletic and academic mission. This position supports the Head Coach in all aspects of the team, including training, game preparation, mentoring student-athletes, and promoting sportsmanship and school pride.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and conducting daily practices and training sessions.


• Teach sport fundamentals, game strategy, and conditioning techniques.


• Supervise student-athletes during all team activities, ensuring safety and discipline.


• Support students' academic, personal, and social growth.


• Participate in staff meetings, film review, scouting, and strategic planning.


• Contribute to team fundraising, community outreach, and team-building events.

Working Conditions

• Must be available for evening and weekend practices/games.


• May work in outdoor environments under various weather conditions.


• The role requires physical activity and ability to demonstrate proper techniques within each sports discipline.

Evaluation

Annual performance review conducted by the Head Coach and Athletic Director in accordance with district evaluation procedures.

Language And Communication Skills

• Ability to read and interpret documents pertinent to position, i.e. athletic policy manuals, handbooks, and state guidelines


• Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and correctly, in speech and writing, to parents, coaches, and athletes


• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, athletes, coaching staff, and the community

Mathematical Skills

• Understanding of budgeting and accounting practices
