Job summary

Michael Foods, Inc. is seeking a Production Lead in Chaska, Minnesota to oversee packaging line operations, maintain production schedules, ensure product quality, and support crossfunctional teams.

This role emphasizes safety, quality, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced food processing environment. Responsibilities include supervising daily line activities, coordinating with maintenance, QA, and shipping, and training staff while upholding GMP and SQF standards.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required.
• 1–2 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with teams and presenting information.
• Proficient in basic math, including fractions, percentages, and ratios.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Proficient with database, inventory, manufacturing, order processing, spreadsheet, and word processing software.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily operations of the packaging lines to meet production goals.
• Monitor and reassign for breaks, lunches, and schedule changes.
• Ensure product quality through regular checks and adherence to standards.
• Collaborate with Processing, Maintenance, QA, R&D, and Shipping/Receiving to resolve delays or issues.
• Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
• Provide direction to production staff.
• Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with safety programs.
• Coordinate and conduct employee training on production and packaging procedures.
• Follow SQF principles and report any safety concerns.
• Maintain proper documentation in redzone with comments on all missed checks.
• Ensure SAP data entry is complete and accurate.
• Complete sanitation activities as required.
• Act as Production Supervisor in their absence.
