Job summary

First Horizon Bank is seeking a high-caliber risk professional to fill the First Line Risk & Control Officer role. You will work with business leaders to strengthen the first line risk and control environment and partner with the 2LOD/3LOD to address regulatory and audit inquiries.

The role blends shaping risk programs with live risk management, driving issues to closure, and ensuring robust reporting of risk indicators. Ten+ years in banking with 5+ in risk/control is expected.

Qualifications

• Ten or more years in banking or a regulated financial institution with direct risk management experience.
• Experience owning issues management or RCSA with second-line leverage.
• Ability to perform root cause analyses and write corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Issues management lifecycle including intake, root cause, action plans, tracking, and closure evidence.
• Risk event management, triage and escalation within thresholds and timelines.
• RCSA documentation, mapping, and remediation planning.
• Controls design, ownership validation, and inventory maintenance.
• Business partnership to identify and address emerging risks.
• Support regulatory and internal audit examinations and inquiries.
• Prepare risk reporting and contribute to leadership forums.
