Job summary

First Horizon Corp. is seeking a seasoned risk and control leader to drive the first line of defense across risk programs.

The role designs risk and control programs, documents processes, strengthens the control inventory, and shapes assessment cycles while leading remediation of issues and events in live operations. You will partner with business leaders to identify emerging risks, support regulatory inquiries, and deliver clear risk reporting to senior leadership and second line partners.

Qualifications

• Ten+ years in banking or regulated financial institutions with five+ years in risk and control.
• Expertise across first line risk toolkit and remediation lifecycle.
• Ability to perform root cause analysis and craft corrective actions accepted by second line, internal audit, or regulator.
• Knowledge of consumer banking processes including deposit, payments, and digital channels.
• Understanding of the three lines of defense and influencing without authority.

Responsibilities

• Manage the first line issue lifecycle end-to-end, including intake, root cause analysis, action plans, ownership, tracking, escalation, and closure evidence.
• Capture, triage, and escalate operational risk events; perform root cause analysis and route events to the remediation program.
• Document the RCSA process, map controls, assess residual risk with the business, and drive gaps to remediation.
• Apply first line control standards, document control design, confirm owners, and maintain inventory in the system of record.
• Partner with business leaders to identify risks, using indicators and process knowledge to anticipate issues.
• Support regulatory examinations and internal audit engagements, and assess impacts on risk and control environment.
• Contribute to recurring risk reporting and leadership materials, promoting ownership of risk responsibilities.
