Job summary

Aerotech, a global leader in precision motion and automation, is hiring an entry-level Electrical/Computer Engineer focused on firmware and FPGA. This role provides hands-on experience in tight coupling of C++ on DSP with VHDL on FPGA within a hard-time real-time control system.

You’ll work closely with hardware design and software teams here in Pittsburgh, perform testing with oscilloscopes and logic analyzers, and contribute to developing high-performance motion control solutions while growing

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field from an ABET-accredited program.
• 0–2 years of post-graduation embedded software/firmware experience.
• Proficiency with C/C++ and experience with a HDL (VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog).
• Experience using electronic test instruments (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers) to troubleshoot code on hardware.
• Location in Pittsburgh area or willing to relocate; on-site with possible hybrid flexibility.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship (OPT/CPT not eligible).

Responsibilities

• Implement new firmware modules in C++ for DSP-based systems and update existing modules.
• Develop, simulate, and debug VHDL code on FPGA to ensure tight interaction with DSP and hardware.
• Test firmware on motion-control hardware using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers; diagnose issues.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, ME, product management, sales, and support teams to deliver high-performance motion controls.
