Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. is seeking a Firmware Engineering Manager for its R&D Communications product group in Pullman, WA.

You will guide embedded Linux/RTOS firmware, oversee a team of engineers, and shape product concepts and long-term strategy. You will manage backlogs, write designs and test plans, and collaborate with product managers and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, secure clock and timing products.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, related discipline, or equivalent education/experience.
• 8+ years of engineering or management experience in embedded Linux/RTOS firmware development using C/C++.
• Ability to lead and develop employees and manage projects.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment and mentor others.
• Strong writing, documentation and speaking skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead on complex embedded Linux firmware projects.
• Manage and break down a backlog of tasks for the team.
• Create and maintain internal design documentation.
• Write test plans and develop test procedures.
• Prepare design and system level specifications.
• Lead/participate in peer reviews of designs, docs and test plans.
• Provide and maintain accurate project plans and labor estimates.
• Collaborate with product managers on concepts, enhancements and long-term strategy.
• Engage with cross-discipline teams to deliver world-class products.
