Job summary

Lyft Urban Solutions is seeking a Firmware Engineering Manager to lead a team of firmware engineers building embedded software for e-bikes, scooters, batteries, and charging infrastructure. You will define technical direction and own OTA updates across a global fleet.

Qualified candidates have 8+ years in C/C++ for embedded systems, 2+ years in people leadership, experience with RTOS (FreeRTOS/ThreadX), ARM Cortex‑M, and familiarity with safety standards and regulatory processes.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of C/C++ embedded development experience.
• 2+ years in direct firmware/embedded team leadership.
• Experience with embedded RTOS and low-level OS concepts.
• ARM Cortex-M experience, debugging and electrical bring-up.
• Experience with OTA update systems and remote diagnostics.
• Familiarity with safety/regulatory standards for hardware.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of firmware engineers across products.
• Set technical direction and architecture for core firmware systems.
• Own OTA update rollout and fleet diagnostics for distributed hardware.
• Partner with hardware, software, product, data science, manufacturing, and operations.
• Own team planning, roadmaps, staffing, and performance management.
• Drive reliability, safety, and operator experience in fielded fleets.
• Represent firmware in regulatory and safety certification efforts.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines and hardware-in-the-loop testing standards.
