Job summary

Harbinger in California is seeking a Software Engineer, Firmware to design and implement bare-metal and RTOS firmware for cutting-edge EV motor control systems. You will push nanosecond-level determinism, optimize powertrains, and operate at the hardware-software intersection.

Responsibilities include building firmware architecture, configuring BSPs, implementing FOC algorithms, validating with HIL, and documenting approaches.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of embedded firmware development experience.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ for resource-constrained embedded systems.
• Experience with ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers.
• Knowledge of motor control, DSP, and PID tuning.
• Familiarity with CAN, SPI, I2C, UART protocols.

Responsibilities

• Firmware Architecture & Development: Design, implement, and maintain deterministic embedded firmware for motor control in bare-metal and RTOS environments.
• BSP & Driver Configuration: Configure and optimize vendor BSPs and write low-level hardware drivers for optimal performance.
• Algorithm Implementation: Deploy, tune, and optimize complex control algorithms, including high-frequency FOC.
• System Optimization: Improve CPU efficiency, reduce interrupt latency, optimize memory usage.
• Testing & Validation: Perform rigorous testing, debugging, and validation using real-time simulation and HIL.
• Cross-Functional Integration: Work with hardware, software, and power electronics teams to integrate firmware.
• Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive firmware documentation.
