Job summary

AMD is seeking a Firmware Engineering intern/co-op to join our team in the United States. You will contribute to firmware for AMD's discrete and embedded products, crafting, debugging, and validating features on reference hardware and pre-silicon environments.

You will participate in design reviews, document software, and gain experience across AGILE processes. This role offers real-world impact across AMD's AI and compute platforms.

Qualifications

• You are currently enrolled in a US based University in a Bachelor's program majoring in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
• Knowledge of BIOS, firmware, or system software development
• Experience with low level programming and hardware architectures
• Familiarity with embedded systems, RTOS, and embedded controllers
• Experience with Linux development environments
• Familiarity with version control tools (Perforce, JIRA, Git)
• VHDL/Verilog/FPGA concepts and hardware design basics

Responsibilities

• Assist with firmware development for AMD discrete and embedded products
• Craft, implement, debug, and validate features on reference hardware and pre-silicon emulation/simulation environments
• Participate in design reviews and code reviews
• Document software produced
• Work across internal and external platforms
• Learn AGILE methodologies and processes for Software Engineering
• Engage in firmware development tasks including x86 firmware work and embedded HW design
