Job summary

AMD offers an internal Firmware Engineering internship/co-op at San Jose/Santa Clara. You will work on firmware for AMD's discrete and embedded products, crafting, testing, and documenting features on reference hardware and simulations.

You will participate in reviews and AGILE practices, with opportunities across FW/HW boundaries. Ideal candidates are US-based students in Electrical Eng, CS, or CE, with C/C++ skills, embedded systems knowledge, Linux experience, and familiarity with hardware

Qualifications

• Knowledge of BIOS/firmware or system software development.
• Experience with C/C++ and hardware architectures.
• Embedded systems with RTOS and embedded controllers.
• Experience with debugging from software to hardware.
• Familiarity with FPGA/VHDL/Verilog concepts.
• Linux development environment knowledge.
• Exposure to graphics/compute pipelines is a plus.
• Experience with Perforce/JIRA/Git or similar tools.

Responsibilities

• Craft, implement, debug, and validate features on reference hardware and software.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and project planning.
• Produce clear documentation for all software produced.
• Work on internal and external platforms.
• Learn and apply AGILE methodologies and standard processes.
• Engage in x86 firmware development using C.
• Design, build and implement Embedded Firmware + Bootrom/HW.
• Debug firmware/hardware issues including waveform analysis.
