Job summary

Textron Systems in Hunt Valley, MD is offering a 2027 Intern - Firmware Engineer (Weapons) role. You will collaborate with engineers to write and debug firmware, and participate in design and code reviews.

Current enrollment in Electrical or Computer Engineering; you will gain hands-on firmware development experience and exposure to test environments and cross-functional teams. This internship includes mentorship, training, and a prepaid stipend for the 10-week summer program.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or have completed a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Ability to work 40 hours/week.
• Capable of working well with a cross functional team.
• Ability to complete tasks on time while taking inputs from other engineers.
• U.S citizen with the ability to obtain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Collaborating with engineers to write, and debug firmware code to ensure functionality and performance.
• Preparing and maintaining documentation detailing firmware design, functionality, and test procedures.
• Working with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineering, to identify and resolve issues.
• Participating in design and code reviews to provide and receive constructive feedback to improve firmware quality.
• Firmware development: Gain hands-on experience in writing and debugging firmware.
• Test environment: Learn how to develop and operate firmware test environments.
• Collaboration: Enhance teamwork skills by working with cross-functional teams.
