Job summary

Textron Systems seeks a current student for a 10-week internship in Hunt Valley, MD as a Firmware Engineer (Weapons). You will collaborate with engineers to write and debug firmware and to document design and test procedures. This role emphasizes hands-on firmware development, cross-functional teamwork, and participation in design reviews.

You must be pursuing or have completed a B.S. in Electrical or Computer Engineering and be a U.S. citizen eligible for security clearance.

About This Role

We believe people should love what they do - in this role, you will be responsible for:

• Collaborating with engineers to write, and debug firmware code to ensure functionality and performance.
• Preparing and maintaining documentation detailing firmware design, functionality, and test procedures.
• Working with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineering, to identify and resolve issues.
• Participating in design and code reviews to provide and receive constructive feedback to improve firmware quality.
• Current enrollment in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering programs.
• Working knowledge of one or more of the following: SystemVerilog, VHDL, Python, C, Digital Systems, and Electrical Circuits.
• Firmware development: Gain hands-on experience in writing and debugging firmware.
• Test environment: Learn how to develop and operate firmware test environments.
• Collaboration: Enhance teamwork skills by working with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or have completed a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
• Ability to work 40 hours/week
• Capable of working well with a cross functional team
• Ability to complete tasks on time while taking in inputs from other engineers
• This position requires an individual to be a U.S citizen with the ability to obtain a security clearance
